Hero's Tavern
The game starts with only one hero, Guy and after unlocking other heroes, they can be selected at the Hero's Tavern in the beggining of the game.
Every hero starts with different stats, one skill and one passive ability. As you explore dungeons and kill monsters, you gain experience points and level up your character, allowing you to upgrade 1 point of the 4 stats.
This mechanic allows the player to build its character as it see fit. For example, you may pick Svafa (mage type) and level up her strengh stat, making her a Warrior with lots of mana.
Runestone Keeper currently has 3 heroes, which unlocks when you reach dungeon level 10 and 15.
